Bilateral Political Consultations between Serbia and Georgia

The Serbian delegation was headed by State Secretary Damjan Jović, while the Georgian delegation was headed by Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs George Zurabashvili.

During the consultations, the traditionally friendly relations between the two countries were reaffirmed, and both sides expressed their readiness to further intensify political dialogue and advance bilateral cooperation in areas of mutual interest, including the economy, culture and education.

The discussions also covered the European integration processes of the two countries, as well as cooperation in multilateral fora. The interlocutors briefed each other on regional cooperation and exchanged views on current global issues.

Both sides underscored the importance of holding regular political consultations as a means of further advancing bilateral relations and expressed interest in holding the next round in Belgrade next year.

Particular attention during the consultations was devoted to the situation in Kosovo and Metohija and the difficult position of the Serbian population, which faces violations of fundamental human and civil rights on a daily basis as a result of Pristina’s harmful unilateral actions. State Secretary Jović underscored Serbia’s deep appreciation for Georgia’s support for the sovereignty and territorial integrity of the Republic of Serbia, an issue of the highest importance to our country, and reaffirmed the Republic of Serbia’s commitment to the consistent observance of this fundamental principle of international law.
